Job Description
Product Pricing & Development
- Calculate insurance premiums and participate in developing rules, conditions, and terms for insurance and reinsurance products.
- Verify premiums and other fees for policyholders based on statistical data to ensure both economic and technical feasibility, while maintaining regulatory compliance and solvency.
Actuarial Valuation & Reserving
- Perform annual evaluations of variances between pricing assumptions and actual product performance.
- Calculate insurance technical reserves in accordance with legal requirements.
- Conduct quarterly and annual solvency assessments and certify reports submitted to the Ministry of Finance.
Financial & Risk Assessment
- Report promptly to the General Director and Members’ Council regarding any irregularities that may negatively impact the company’s financial position and propose corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the Risk Management Department to define risk assessment and measurement models, conduct stress testing, and prepare risk management reports.
- Evaluate insurance claim payments and benefit disbursements.
Advisory & Compliance Support
- Provide actuarial insights to support business planning, capital management, and compliance with insurance regulatory frameworks.
- Ensure all actuarial reports and models adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned in line with the responsibilities of an Appointed Actuary.
Job Requirement
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Insurance Pricing, or Risk Management.
Professional Certification
- Associate member (at minimum) of a recognized international actuarial organization such as SOA (Society of Actuaries) or CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society).
- Must have a clean professional record with no violations of actuarial ethics.
- Experience
- Work experience in life or non-life insurance companies, domestically or internationally, is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Deep understanding of actuarial principles, insurance reserving, and pricing methodologies.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of working with senior executives and regulators.
- Proficiency in English or Chinese (both written and spoken).
- High level of integrity, responsibility, and attention to detail.
