Job Description
Cutting Machine Maintenance
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot cashew cutting/shelling machines.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of cutting lines.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and rectify machine abnormalities.
- Monitor machine condition during production and intervene immediately when cutting performance deteriorates.
- Maintain machine components to ensure stable and continuous production.
- Develop preventive-maintenance schedules and maintain critical spare-parts requirements for the cutting section.
Cutting Blade Management
- Inspect the condition and performance of cutting blades/knives.
- Adjust blade positioning and cutting pressure according to RCN size, shape, and characteristics.
- Sharpen, replace, and align cutting blades when necessary.
- Ensure correct clearance and synchronization between blades and cashew nuts.
- Monitor blade wear and establish appropriate replacement intervals.
- Train machine operators on correct blade inspection and adjustment.
Cutting Performance Optimization
- Monitor and reduce broken kernels, incomplete cutting, uncut nuts, over-cutting, knife marks, kernel crushing, oil-damaged kernels, mechanical damage, and excessive shell penetration.
- Optimize cutting-machine settings according to different RCN origins, sizes, and nut characteristics.
- Adjust machines based on nut count, nut size, shell thickness, moisture, origin, and processing conditions.
- Work closely with production teams to maximize whole-kernel recovery, cutting efficiency, machine capacity, and equipment uptime.
Production Analysis, Training & Technical Support
- Monitor cutting performance using production data.
- Compare input, cutting output, whole-kernel recovery, broken percentage, partial cutting, and uncut percentage.
- Identify whether production losses come from machine settings, blade condition, raw-material variation, operator practices, or conditioning/steaming problems.
- Recommend technical solutions to improve machine performance and provide regular technical reports to management.
- Train operators and maintenance technicians on machine operation, blade adjustment, blade replacement, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and cutting-quality control.
- Support installation, commissioning, and optimization of new cutting machinery when required.
Job Requirement
Education & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience in the cashew industry, specifically involving cashew cutting/shelling machinery.
- Strong hands-on experience with cashew cutting machines and cutting blades.
Skills & Competencies
- Proven ability to adjust cutting machines, replace and align cutting blades, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and reduce kernel breakage, partial cutting, uncut nuts, knife marks, and oil damage.
- Good understanding of how RCN characteristics affect cutting-machine performance.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting capability.
- Knowledge of motors, bearings, conveyors, vibrators, transmission systems, and related mechanical components is preferred.
- Ability to independently identify technical problems and implement practical solutions.
Language / Other Requirements
- Good command of English is mandatory, particularly for communication with international teams.
- Willing and able to travel frequently and work for extended periods in India and African cashew-producing countries.
- Willing to work hands-on in a factory environment.
- This role focuses on technical supervision and troubleshooting support, not full-scope maintenance team management.
